What is Foxwood Springs?
A: Foxwood Springs is a continuing care retirement community for persons 55 years of age and older. It is made up of approximately 700 residents (approximately 500 in homes and apartments, 60 in residential care, 60 in skilled nursing, and 60 in an Alzheimer’s program encompassing three different levels of treatment).
   
Q: What amenities are offered at Foxwood Springs?
A: The Foxwood community features many amenities, including a 24-hour emergency call system, an impressive library, a closed-circuit television station, beauty parlor, indoor heated swimming pool, tennis court, exercise room, fishing lake, garden plots, a Corner Store for groceries and gifts, and a Computer Lab with a variety of classes on different levels.
   
Q: Who manages Foxwood Springs?
A: Since April 2005, Foxwood Springs has been under new ownership of Brookdale Communities

Q: Is there any provision for “ownership” as opposed to renting?
A: In the late 1970’s, Foxwood Springs became the first retirement community in the United States to offer full home ownership.  Garden home residents enjoy all the benefits of homeowners anywhere, subject only to guidelines explained in the Home Owner’s Manual.
   
Q: What are some of the main characteristics of Foxwood Springs?
A: As expressed by one of the residents, “For me, affordable housing, volunteerism, sense of community, appropriate health services and a variety of levels for progressive health care are the facets of retirement that I was concerned about.”
   
Q: I am not from the Kansas City area.  Can you tell me what the climate and weather conditions are like?
A: Sometimes the sky is crystal clear blue for so many days straight that it is almost monotonous.  We do have exposure to all four seasons (as shown on our opening web page).  There have been days in December that are excellent for a round of golf.
