Foxwood
Springs Thrift Shop located on Long Street in Foxwood Springs was opened
a little over a year ago. It is already showing great potential. Proceeds
from the Thrift Shop go to the Foxwood Springs Residents’ Council,
a not-for-profit organization which sponsors the Fellowship of John
program. The monies in this fund are used to help residents of the
community who outlive their resources.

“We’re very proud that we have opened this Thrift
Shop,” explained resident Yvonne Paysinger. “We hope that it will be a
service not just to Foxwood residents, but also to the surrounding
communities. It’s a pleasant place to shop at reasonable prices.”

Donations of quality used items are accepted,
providing an opportunity for items to be recycled rather than thrown
away. Paysinger explained that the Thrift Shop is one of three shops in
Foxwood Springs that benefit the Fellowship of John. There is also a
Gift Shop, selling new handmade items, and a Bargain Barn. Store hours
are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Raymore Mayor Juan Alonzo welcomed the new enterprise
to the community, commenting, “I want to congratulate you on your
proactive efforts of service. Not only does the Thrift Shop help supply
a need within the Foxwood Springs Community, but it also provides
reasonably priced shopping for area residents. The concept of reusing
items and the means to make them accessible to those who will use them,
benefits the entire community and cuts down on waste. Thank you for
investing so much time and energy into the betterment of Raymore.” |
